A Little Flutter of Gratitude
I just returned from the doctor. He says my heart has an “atypical flutter”—though he has no idea why.
I told him not to worry. I knew the cause.
It’s you.
My Substack readers—the followers and subscribers who have been uncommonly generous with their attention and their words. That’s why my heart’s all a-flutter.
He smiled … briefly. Then returned to his chart.
But truly: you’ve followed me along a path I never could have predicted. From Whale’s Song, to poetry and the invention of phaiku. From whimsical flirtations with the Muse to deeper, skyward ponderings—ancient callings, data and poetry, memory and myth.
This year I published my first ebook. I completed Crone’s Cairn and sent it into the world.
I even began sharing sketches—tentative steps into a medium that once felt entirely foreign. And now, with tools in hand and encouragement at my back, I’m ready to play in a realm I once resisted. Procreate, here I come.
It hasn’t been a straight line. It’s been a conversation.
No wonder my heart’s all a-flutter.
Thank you for letting me flutter by and ...
Happy New Always!
