Why is DNA So Sexy?
a poem
feathers
wattles
bright colors
you turn me on my head
why must you fuss
why must i breed
results remain the same
fifty percent tariff
inevitable diversity excised
iterations wobble
feathers, wattles and bright colors
evolutionary slop (or spill)
inevitable wander
searching for fit
fifty percent spreading for miles
alternatives live
but do you heighten
survival really
keep me a step from danger
the tariff pays
and costs
but why
just one
choice
more failure points
less hereditary claim
are you even my type
so many options
for pleasure
so much baited distraction
why is dna so sexy?

This is a fascinating, abstract piece of biological poetry. It feels like a mix of Darwinian cynicism and a very modern existential crisis.
