Oh wow, I'm totally with you--what must it have been like to see these things without even the most basic scientific explanation? It almost makes me jealous! I don't think it's that we have too many words now, but maybe we've grown so complacent in those words that we've forgotten how to really use them.

Wonderful historical analysis. When their understanding was their magic, their poetry, their science and history.

I know what you mean about writer's high. I felt the same when I realized "The Sword and the Stone" legend was about their discovery & understanding of metallurgy. Tracking this through all the world's different mythologies felt effortless, in fact, energizing and very enjoyable to write.

Tim, I believe this is where we find true magic ... through writing ... creating ... wondering. Thank you for being a believer!

I totally agree, I really think magic is real... its what we call science and understanding. These are just our words for it. Practical knowledge, and memory of it through the ages persists as a real thing.

Theres a real world out there that is built according to laws and principles, and we're part of it. We were constructed to perceive these fundamental truths and to use them to get by in life. Knowledge builds on knowledge and things get forgotten through the vast amount of time people have been living on earth.

I definitely think these things get expressed as poetry and myth and other ways people have tried to communicate their understanding and experience of the universe. Great analysis! Thanks so much for connecting the dots, so interesting!

Haha! Maybe we'll see the 'comet of the century' again ... I hear it's due back in about 80,000 years.

So glad you enjoyed it. The night sky is full of wonder ... just wish it could be a little less well-lit ... if you know what I mean. Thank you for commenting. It makes me feel I'm not alone in space. :-)
