Last of the Ascension (Verse) - 15
Her Watch
He returned the shells—
carefully, as if they might escape him.
Warmth followed—
unearned, but familiar.
He smiled—
because he chose to.
If she watched—
it no longer changed what came next.
He knew what he had to do—
or believed he did.
Above—
she watched.
Not intervening—
only witnessing.
She had seen the ride—
the moment of ease.
Had hoped it would soften him—
loosen his grip.
But he still held the mala tightly—
as if power could be forced awake.
She sent warmth—
a touch, not a correction.
Concern remained—
because truth does not hurry.
He was approaching it—
whether he understood or not.
She would stay—
because she had chosen to.
She knew Lagonas—
better than he ever would.
Which is why—
she would not interfere.
