Last of the Ascension (Verse) - Intro
A metamorphosis
Am I drawn to brevity and restraint because breathing has slowed me down?
I don’t think so.
If anything, I’ve spent years hiding behind too many words—habit, perhaps, or something older. Lately, I’ve begun noticing how much can be carried with less.
This work is an experiment in that direction.
I wrote a story, The Last of the Ascension, and somewhere in the writing, it began to feel like something else—less narrative, more rhythm. Not long after, I encountered the idea of story in verse. It felt strangely familiar.
So I followed it.
What remains is this version: reduced, or perhaps expanded differently, into verse.
Each verse is presented as its own post, but this page will serve as an index to the sequence.
I’m curious whether reading the verses in order is even necessary. If you choose to wander through them differently, I would genuinely love to hear how the experience changes.
And for those who may have missed the original story, you can find it here: The Last Ascension
