Last of the Ascension (Verse) - 30
What It had Been
Fog gathered—
not arrival, but remembering.
Whale Rock disappeared—
as it had before it was named.
The world returned—
to what it had been.
The Pelican closed—
cups gathered, voices gone.
Three remained—
seen only by what watches.
She descended.
Not with force—
with completion.
He bent—
because he had always done so.
She raised him—
because it was no longer needed.
“You stand with me.”
Not above.
Not below.
With.
